How we start our trip!

We will pick you up from your preferred location and drive you back at the end of your tour.
Our suggestion if possible is to start your tour at 07:00 am.

First stop...

The full day Kalavryta , Cave of Lakes & Mega Spileo tour starts with a 45-mile drive along the National highway to Peloponnese.
We reach the well-known Corinthian canal or else Isthmus canal that connects the Saronic Sea and the Corinthian Sea.
After a short stop for pictures, we continue with a 60-minute drive towards Diakofto.
At Diakofto, you will catch the train departing at 09:52 am with direction to Kalavryta, where our driver will meet you after approximately an hour.
The Cog Railway (Odontotos) is considered one of the most beautiful train trips in the Balkans. With an unparalleled journey that lasts for about one hour , the stunning natural scenery is truly a sight to behold.

Next stop...

Kalavryta is a picturesque town and a municipality in the mountainous east-central part of the regional unit of Achaea, Greece.
We will have the opportunity to visit the site of Execution, the most important monument in Kalavrita. There on 13 December 1943 all men who were more than 14 years old, were killed by Nazis.

After walking in the traditional town, we will continue with a drive towards the Cave lakes. In the village Kastria of Achaia lies the famous “Cave of the Lakes”.
It is a rare creation of Nature. Apart from its labyrinth of corridors, its mysterious galleries and its strange stalactite formations, the “Cave of the Lakes” has something exclusively unique that does not exist in other well-known caves. Inside the cave there is a string of cascading lakes forming three different levels that establish its uniqueness in the world.

our last stop ...

We leave Kalavryta and after a 15-minute drive, we will arrive at the famous Mega Spileo monastery, which is the oldest monastery of Greece (built in 362 AC). It took its name from the place (Spileo means Cave) where the icon of Virgin Mary was found.
This impressive eight-floor monastery is built at an elevation of 924 meters in the shade of a steep rock on Helmos mountain and provides the visitor with magnificent views from its balcony.
Its interior hosts frescoes, mosaic floors and a museum displaying wooden crosses, manuscripts and Holy Gospels.

After the conclusion of our visit we will drive back to Athens via the National highway.
Your English-speaking driver will explain about the ancient monuments that you are about to visit, the ancient history of Greece and interesting facts about historical and modern-day Greece but is not allowed by law to accompany you in the sites.
